CGI Bathroom Remodeling: The Irvine Owner’s Guide

CGI bathroom remodeling in Irvine typically runs $9,000-$28,000 for a full replacement, with partial updates starting lower depending on fixture count and substrate condition. We stock CGI-compatible vanities, shower enclosures, and hardware series for same-day assessment, and we carry KraftMaid and Cambria alternatives when a full CGI match isn’t available. Most Irvine owners first notice trouble when a vanity door won’t stay aligned, a shower track grinds, or hardware finishes start pitting ahead of schedule - usually traced to coastal humidity cycling through the bathroom envelope or the original installer skipping the moisture barrier behind tile.

Which CGI Models This Applies To

CGI’s bathroom line breaks into three series that matter for parts matching: the Builder Series (entry-level framed enclosures and standard vanities, 2012-2019), the Designer Series (frameless glass and soft-close cabinetry, 2015-present), and the Premier Series (custom sizing, integrated LED, and floating vanity options, 2019-present). The label is inside the cabinet on a silver sticker, or etched on the lower track of shower enclosures - it’ll read “CGI” followed by a six-digit code starting with B, D, or P.

The gotcha: Builder and Designer Series use 3/4-inch side-wall thickness, but Premier moved to 13/16-inch with a different hinge bore pattern. We’ve seen Irvine homeowners order a “CGI hinge” online and find it won’t seat because they didn’t catch that quarter-inch difference. OEM parts from CGI direct carry a 6-8 week lead right now. We stock quality aftermarket equivalents from our vetted supplier list that match the spec and carry the same finish warranty - usually at lower landed cost because we’re not shipping single pieces cross-country. If you’re in an Irvine HOA with strict material continuity rules, like the villages around Irvine Spectrum, we photograph the existing part, match the finish code, and document it in your file before anything gets ordered.

Signs Your CGI Bathroom Remodeling Is Failing

Signs Your CGI Bathroom Remodeling Is Failing
  • Door misalignment that returns after adjustment. The hinge cup has wallowed out in the particleboard stile, which happens when coastal humidity swells the substrate faster than the laminate can flex. We see this in first-floor Irvine bathrooms where the slab sits closer to the water table.
  • Shower door track grinding or popping. The nylon roller wheels have flat-spotted, or the aluminum track itself has corroded at the drain-side low point. Hard water from Irvine Ranch Water District supply accelerates this - the calcium builds behind the sweep and traps moisture.
  • Finish pitting or discoloration around handles. The PVD coating has failed at a high-touch point, usually from a cleaning product with ammonia or bleach. Brushed nickel shows it first; oil-rubbed bronze hides it longer but fails more dramatically when it goes.
  • Soft-close mechanism slamming after six months. The hydraulic cylinder has leaked down. This is a replaceable cartridge in most CGI Designer and Premier drawers, but Builder Series used a riveted assembly that requires full slide replacement.
  • Vanity toe-kick swelling or delamination. Mop water or a slow supply-line drip has wicked up the MDF. In Irvine’s older Woodbridge and Northwood homes with original CGI installs, we find this where the floor slope sends water to the back corner and it sits.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

Scope Irvine Price Range What’s Included
CGI vanity hardware refresh (hinges, slides, pulls) $800-$2,500 Parts, removal/reinstall, alignment, 1-year labor warranty
CGI shower enclosure track/roller replacement $1,200-$3,500 Aftermarket or OEM track, new rollers, reseal, water test
Single CGI vanity replacement (same footprint) $2,500-$6,000 Vanity, top, faucet, install, haul-away, photo record
Full CGI bathroom remodel $9,000-$28,000 Demolition, rough plumbing, fixtures, tile, permit, final

What drives the range: finish grade (chrome to matte black to custom PVD), whether we’re working with existing plumbing centers or moving them, and the condition of the wall substrate once the old unit comes out. We’ve done $9,000 refreshes in University Park where the backing was sound and the owner kept the footprint, and $28,000 reconfigurations in Turtle Rock where we relocated the toilet and enlarged the shower. Under Clause 1 of the Haven Standard, you get the written price before we touch a tool - every line item, no “allowances” that balloon later. No change proceeds without a signed change order, which is why our projects finish within a few percent of the number we agreed on. The 365-Day Done Right Promise covers the labor; manufacturer warranties cover the parts.

There’s a safe middle ground for most CGI issues. An owner can check the model label, photograph the failing part, and verify whether the problem is the part or the installation - a misaligned track, for instance, sometimes needs shimming, not replacement. What we don’t recommend: removing a frameless shower door solo. The panels are 3/8-inch tempered glass, 70-90 pounds each, with no frame to absorb torque. If a roller hangs up during removal, the panel torques, and tempered glass doesn’t bend - it explodes into granules. We’ve cleaned that up in Irvine twice in the past three years.

Same for anything behind the vanity that involves supply lines or the shutoff valve. The angle stops in older Irvine homes, especially pre-2000 builds, are often multi-turn brass that fatigues at the stem. You twist it to change a faucet, the stem shears, and now you have an uncontrolled flow at 60 PSI until the main gets shut. We carry cap kits and replacement stops on the truck.
