Where DIY goes wrong: setting vinyl posts without laser-level alignment (a 1-inch lean at 6 feet reads as failure from the street), mixing old and new rail profiles (the lock tabs won’t seat), or pouring concrete without a composite block break - that wicks moisture straight to the steel insert. Post hole depth matters more in Irvine than most assume: 24 inches minimum in undisturbed soil, 30 inches if you’re backfilling near a recent grade.
